"Fat Ho Burgers" Causes Uproar In Texas Town

Latest

A local businesswoman has upset her neighbors by opening a new burger join in town— and naming it Fat Ho Burgers.

According to the Waco Tribune,

You can order items like a Supa Fly Ho with Cheese, the Sloppy Ho Brisket or a Fat Chicken Ho. There are even “Tiny Ho Meals,” sure to raise parents’ eyebrows. The Mexican items are perhaps a nod to three painted mariachi singers who can still be seen on one of the walls from when the restaurant had a different theme.

A Facebook group has been formed to express concern about the restaurant (“This group is designed to promote Waco Texas! We also don’t like misogyny, or racism or people who try to bring our communities down.”)

Complicating matters a bit is the fact that the restaurant is owned by a young, black woman who said she worked her way through college to open the restaurant. Twenty-three year-old Lakita Evans told a local Fox affiliate, “It’s not calling people a ho. It’s just like they say, ‘Oooh that ho is big,’ or, ‘That ho is tight!'” She added, “Look what’s going on in Japan. It’s like clear this world is not gonna get any better. Why cry and be depressed? The economy is bad. Somebody gotta keep a sense of humor around here.”
